From M6 – Northbound

  • Leave M6 at Junction 22
  • Turn right at roundabout onto Winwick Lane
  • Continue to end of road (approx 2 miles) and turn right
  • Continue straight on through first set of traffic lights
  • At second set of traffic lights (opposite Texaco garage) turn right onto East Lancashire Road (A580)
  • Turn left at first set of traffic lights A579(A572) (signposted Leigh Sports Village) onto Atherleigh Way
  • Continue through traffic lights to small roundabout
  • Leigh Sports Village is situated on the right.

From M6 – Southbound

  • Leave M6 at Junction 23
  • Turn left at A49/East Lancashire Road (signs for Manchester/A580)
  • Continue on A580 for approx 0.9 mile to roundabout
  • Through roundabout and continue on A580 for approx 3.1 miles
  • Turn left at traffic lights A579(A572) (signposted Leigh Sports Village) onto Atherleigh Way
  • Continue through traffic lights to small roundabout
  • Leigh Sports Village is situated on the right.

 

A580 from Manchester

  • Continue on A580 (East Lancashire Road)
  • Through roundabout at junction with A574 (Leigh/Glazebury & Culcheth
  • Turn right at traffic lights A579(A572) (signposted Leigh Sports Village) onto Atherleigh Way
  • Continue through traffic lights to small roundabout
  • Leigh Sports Village is situated on the right.

 

A580 from Liverpool

  • On A580 (East Lancashire Road) through M6 junction
  • Continue on A580 for approx 0.9 mile to roundabout
  • Through roundabout and continue on A580 for approx 3.1 miles
  • Turn left at traffic lights A579(A572) (signposted Leigh Sports Village) onto Atherleigh Way
  • Continue through traffic lights to small roundabout
  • Leigh Sports Village is situated on the right.

 

IRONMAN UK will be offering full parking facilities for athletes and spectators at Registration. There will be signs to and from the car park and these signs must be adhered to. IRONMAN UK is now hosted in a more urban area and as such is conscious that parking does not negatively impact on the general population. Please ensure that your cars are legally park in the designated areas. Please make your spectators aware of this.  For full details on Car Parking please click HERE.

Please note that on Race Day there will be no parking at The Leigh Sports Village. For Car parking during Race Week and on Race Day please click HERE.

Swim, T1

The swim and T1 will be at Pennington Flash. There is NO parking at Pennington Flash for athletes or their spectators during Race Week. However there will be 600 pre-bookable car parking spaces for athletes with spectators, where the spectator wishes to watch the swim and then relocate themselves and the car to the town centre (for example.) Please note that on Race Day, all-day athlete parking will be available at the Reebox Stadium where shuttle buses will transport you to the Swim Start. Click HERE for full details.

Athletes must pre-book a place on the shuttle bus. ONLY ATHLETES THAT HAVE BOOKED A PLACE WILL BE PERMITED TO GET ON THE BUSES! Click HERE for full details.

Swimming is forbidden in the Flash at any time. Any person found swimming in the Flash outside Official IRONMAN UK Swim sessions will be disqualified from all future IRONMAN UK Events.

Transition 2

T2 will be located at Rivington and Blackrod High School.

Upon arriving at T2 there will be a ‘Drop Off/Collection Zone’ for your car. Please note it is not a long stay car park. It is a short stay ‘Drop Off/Collection Zone’, to enable athletes to rack/collect their bikes and bags. IRONMAN UK ask that all athletes use the Zone appropriately to ensure the smooth flowing of themselves and fellow competitors. Marshals and Traffic Management Operatives will be in place to assist you at the IRONMAN UK journey.

Please note that athletes are not able to visit Blackrod and Rivington High School Prior to Race Week as this is a full operational and working school and for Child Protection reasons no athlete is allowed on site.

Pasta Party, Race Briefing and Awards Ceremony

Pasta Party, Race Briefing and the Awards Ceremony will all take place in the Premier Suit at the Reebok Stadium.
