Hawaii Qualification PDF Print E-mail

The IRONMAN UK 2010 is the UK's only official qualifier for the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kona Hawaii, October 2010. The IRONMAN UK event will be awarding 30 qualifying slots for the Kona 2010 event.   Below are the PROVISIONAL Ford IRONMAN World Championship Slots available at IRONMAN UK 2010, based on the 2009 allocation.

The information below is PROVISIONAL – for pre-race guidance only. The actual 2010 slots allocated to each age group will be finalized in accordance with actual participant entry data for that race - in accordance with WTC rules. Such data will be regularly up dated in the coming months to take into account changes in the participants data.

Such provisional slot allocation will also be posted at the race site the day before the race. Actual slot allocation will be re-adjusted according to the competitors who actually start the event on race morning itself - this is in accordance with WTC rules and regulations. Actual slot allocation will be re-adjusted once the 2009 IMUK event has started.

WTC Slot Allocation Policy

At least one slot shall be allocated to each five-year age group category in which any age group athlete sends in an application, both male and female, per the age group categories listed above. If there are no athletes entered in the race in a particular age group, then that slot will be moved to the largest populated age group in that same gender. For additional age group slots, slot allocation shall be representative of the actual number of age grouper applicants in each category in the race. As an example, if 8% of the age-group applicants are females 40-44, then 8% of these slots would be allocated in the female 40-44 category.

WTC Post Race Procedure

Hawaii registration will be held on Monday after the race, at the IRONMAN UK Awards Ceremony. The Hawaii fee will be processed from your supplied credit card in the equivalent £/sterling amount based on the exchange rate on Race Day itself (PLEASE NOTE THAT AMERICAN EXPRESS CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED). No photos are required. Cash is not accepted.

All athletes are entitled to a free Award Ceremony Ticket. Due to Gatecrashers ruining our IMUK Awards Ceremony several years ago, IRONMAN UK has had to implement this ticket system. Your IMUK Athlete wrist band alone will NOT gain you entry to the IMUK Awards Ceremony- you must have an FOC pre-booked Athlete ticket plus your IMUK Athlete wrist band. On the entry form it is clearly stated that athletes are entitled to an Award Ceremony Ticket FOC, but all athletes wishing to attend MUST tick the box stating that they wish to pre-book a ticket. All pre-booked tickets are issued at Registration.

Guest tickets are not FOC as is the case at all global IRONMAN Events, there is a charge. Please contact the IMUK Race Office should you require further details regarding the availability of tickets.

WTC Roll Down

You must be present at the IRONMAN UK Awards Ceremony in order to accept your Hawaii slot. If you are not present to accept your slot, your slot will be forfeited in accordance with WTC rules. No exceptions.   A slot will roll down to the next person (same gender) in a designated age group if the athlete originally earning the slot is not present or has declined the slot.

Slots must be rolled down within the same age group and gender. Should a slot roll down through an entire age group, that slot will be assigned to the next age group within that gender having the largest number of athletes applying for a Hawaii slot. Age group slots may not be assigned to Pros, and Pro slots may not be assigned to age groups. No exceptions.

If you win an age group slot, that slot must be used in the year it is assigned. If you win a Hawaii slot, you should be prepared to submit a completed application and all fees required on site at the qualifying event. You must not leave the race site without completing all such necssary paperwork. Such actions could forfeit your qualification slot. The race organization reserves the right to recall any slots that may have been awarded in error.

Age Group Please note that the WTC requires age group participation to be based on age on the 31st December in the year of the qualifiying event.

Prizes

Please note that IRONMAN UK will NOT post out prizes or trophies not collected from the Awards Ceremony. Failure to collect from the Awards Ceremony will forfeit any rights to prizes/trophies.
