Spectator Information

Approaching Wimbleball Lake

UK IRONMAN 70.3 has once again been requested to ask athletes/spectators not to approach the lake through Brompton Regis. Brompton Regis is a small village and struggles to cope with the large demands of traffic that IRONMAN can place upon the narrow village roads. Directions to the venue avoiding Brompton Regis are available on the website www.ironmanuk.com (Race Venue, Maps and Directions). The routing directions have been agreed between IRONMAN UK, Active Exmoor, Highways, Police and the local Parish councils. Please adhere to these instructions so as to minimize vehicular impact on the local residents.

Wimbleball Lake Venue Car Parking

Access to Main Car Parks on Race Day will be available until 7.am. The venue car park will close at 7am. No vehicles may enter or leave this car park between 7am and 2pm. During this time a road closure will be in place. These measures are to safeguard athletes.

On arrival at Wimbleball Lake you will be directed into a designated car park. This car park is the one to use at all times when coming into the Race Venue. Rotary Marshals will guide you to your parking space. As in previous years, car parking on site will be handled by the local Rotary and will cost £5. This is a one off parking fee and is payable on the first day that you park. 100% of the parking money is donated to charity with 40% remaining in the local area. On subsequent visits you should display the sticker supplied to you. All donations raised from Car Parking goes to Rotary Charities - UK IRONMAN 70.3 / IRONMAN UK's charity partner. For full details of Rotary and UK IRONMAN 70.3's commitment to charities around the world and how IRONMAN UK events are supporting charities at a local, national and international level, please visit the Rotary web-site via a link on www.ironmanuk.com.

Alternate car parking is available off site. Late comers will be directed by road marshals. This alternative parking is to safeguard a vehicle free route on the bike course. Parking arrangements from 0700 am have been put in place each side of the Wimbleball access road. One will be on the other side of the Causeway (approx 3 miles) and the other on the Brompton Regis road in a farmers field. There is a track from this field leading to the race site at Wimbleball Lake. Please note this is a rough track and not suitable for prams and wheelchairs (approx 2 miles).

IMPORTANT
No vehicle may be parked on road verges in, around or near the course. This is for athlete safety and the free flow of traffic. Please ensure that you inform your friends, family and spectators about these points to help the event, the locals and the athletes. These measures are to safeguard you, the athlete.

Spectator Access to Course

You are allowed on the race course before the start to position yourself at a spectator friendly view point, however, only athletes are permitted on the actual course at any time during the race.

This is for health and safety of all our competitors. Please note as well that if you are there to support competitors, if you are found riding on the course - in front, behind, next to etc - this is classed as outside assistance and under IRONMAN rules this could result in your competitor being disqualified. IRONMAN and officials take outside assistance very seriously. Please refer to Q21 in the Frequently Asked Questions Section.

We very much welcome spectators. IRONMAN is a study in human emotion and endeavour; it offers a fantastic spectacle for the athlete and produces great stories. With over 42 countries represented and athletes from all walks of life taking up the challenge, this is an event with a local, national and international profile. It is a fantastic event which is guaranteed to motivate and even to become a volunteer or maybe a competitor in the future.

Thank you for your co-operation.
